Meet LILLYBETH: A Beautiful Education
Welcome to June and to the first Beauty Bulletin since the very popular edition that included the article: 'Why Facials Are A Waste of Time.' Missed it? You can read it here.
This month sees a 'rebrand' for A Beautiful Education, so in future the logo you'll see on my Beauty Bulletins and at the top of my website will be replace by the gorgeous emblem above. The new brand 'Lillybeth' covers all the services I offer as a professional makeup artist and the tagline 'A Beautiful Education' (as it always has been) refers specifically to the experience you receive in a private or small group makeup lesson, makeup bag audit, reading my articles or hearing me speak.
Watch out for the new logo in today's 'Weekend Sun' community newspaper (Page 26, June 3, 2011) alongside photos from a recent makeover collaboration with other local stylists. You'll soon see it on everything I do!
For your 'beautiful education', Lillybeth Melmoth.
FACE OF THE MONTH - Sian from Christchurch
Ten Days in Tauranga was a project to bring 50 Christchurch households up to Tauranga for a ten day holiday, free of charge, from 10th - 20th April. The idea of this was to provide some small relief for those who had suffered greatly, or who helped amazingly, following the recent tragic earthquake in Christchurch. The 'Ten Days' project was led by Tauranga MP Simon Bridges and Mayor of Tauranga Stuart Crosby. Read more about 'Ten Days' in the newspaper articles here
and here.
Along with many other local businesses, I offered free services to the families during their stay and was booked out in the salon for four days, giving 45 minute makeovers and makeup lessons to more than thirty women, mothers and daughters from Christchurch.
My FACE OF THE MONTH is Sian, who emailed me after her makeover:
"I really enjoyed the session with you and took on board lots of new tips and hints. I would like to say that you have a very special quality in that you make everyone else feel unique. I came out of your lesson feeling wonderful. Thank you for lifting my spirits." - Sian
Sian applied her own eye makeup as a lesson, as did Cheryl, who wrote:
"My daughter and I were lucky enough to recieve a make over and education session with Lillybeth as part of our '10 days in Tauranga'. It was great to learn new techniques in applying my eye make up. Lillybeth made us both look and feel fabulous. Thank you so much." - Cheryl Yusaf

A PERSONAL STYLIST. . . FOR YOUR MAKEUP BAG!
BAFFLED BY CHOICE IN THE BEAUTY DEPARTMENT? CONFUZZLED AT THE BEAUTY COUNTER?
Visiting the beauty department or chemist is like stepping into a land of opportunity. There’s the promise of an exotic, new look...the hope of an uplifting, enriching experience...a better, more elegant you.
But most beauty departments are an onslaught of colours, formulas, foreign words, competing brands, designer labels, celebrity endorsements - and then there’s the sales people! There are so many brands and options, it’s easy to get ‘paralysed by choice’ and leave empty-handed, or worse, with yet another mistake-purchase in your handbag.
Will buying only expensive or designer cosmetics save you from mistake-purchases? No. No beauty product or brand is ‘foolproof’. Believe it or not, there are products that are totally unsuitable for you and doomed to fail your unique needs. Even an expensive or popular product can be a disaster.
It's easy to waste time testing and trying on unsuitable products, and to spend hard-earned cash on them, only to feel disappointed when you get them home and find they don’t perform how you hoped. Every disappointing beauty purchase costs you time, energy and money.
You can save these precious resources - plus avoid the regret of another failed beauty purchase - by booking a Makeup Bag Audit with an independent makeup artist. Read on to discover how you can get a professional makeup artist's touch in your makeup bag...
WHAT WILL A 'MAKEUP BAG AUDIT' DO FOR ME?
Now imagine Cinderella's fairy godmother (above) a little younger, smaller and wearing makeup - That's me! And imagine that my wand is pointed in the direction of your makeup bag! I can teach you the principles behind discovering your best lipstick colours and the science that determines your best eye makeup, OR I can just D.I.F.Y = Do It For You. If you want definitive answers and an honest opinion about the products in your makeup stash, let me put you out of your misery!
A makeup bag audit is for you if you want:
- Instant gratification! A 90 minute sit-down with Lillybeth to get a professional makeup artist’s touch in your makeup bag.
- To rediscover the makeup you have and find what’s missing in your current makeup look. What’s working? What’s not?
- To discover key makeup items that will revolutionise your look.
- To overhaul your makeup stash entirely or simply fill in the gaps with customised product suggestions.
- To stop wasting time, money and energy and know exactly what to look for next time you shop.
